Stanford-Taiwan Social Science Fellowship Program
The Taiwan-Stanford Fellowship Program in the Humanities and Social Sciences (STSS), sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council, aims to promote excellence in humanities and social sciences research in Taiwan. Through collaboration with the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University, outstanding humanities and social science scholars are selected to conduct research exchanges at CASBS. This further enhances high-level academic research talent in the humanities and social sciences in Taiwan, and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration with the CASBS research community.
CASBS was founded in 1954. The mission is to promote interdisciplinary interaction through forming networks of research, thereby bring pioneering achievement and solution aimed at contemporary societal problems, and further design a better future society together. To attain the goal, CASBS has a number of international visiting scholars’ programs. Numerous outstanding scholars from various fields including economics, politics, and sociology have been invited as visiting scholars, and some of whom are winners of the Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, and MacArthur Fellows Program. Scholar Selection
The STSS program conducts selections once a year, choosing one research scholar with a background in the humanities and social sciences to engage in a 9-month academic research exchange with the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University (website: casbs.stanford.edu). CASBS provides a first-rate environment and opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue through internationally renowned scholars, creating a mutually inspiring community and interaction to foster growth and innovation in research. This further cultivates high-level talent grounded in the humanities and social sciences.
